Current Events 2008 Catholic Cub Scout Retreat
This event is not limited to Catholic scouts and scouters. The message and activities will be appropriate to almost all Christians.
The Spartans & Prayer The theme this year is The Spartans and Prayer. The Spartans, from little on, prepared individually and as part of a group to be great warriors. We need to do the same with prayer. We need to learn to use prayer individually and as part of a group to fight life's battles. I plan on having a couple of speakers who will explain different methods of prayer, answer questions and maybe do a VERY SHORT exercise with the boys. I'm looking at around 10 minutes per session. Then off for some Scout fun that relates to the theme. Then we’ll repeat the process with another presentation.
Saturday, November 8, 2008 ~ 9:30 AM at St. Francis de Sales H.S.
Fun Activities, Crafts, Games, Prayer, Mass & Meals
Work on age appropriate crafts which may count towards advancement. This could satisfy “Duty to God” or “Ways We Worship” requirements.
Registration fee is $7 per person and includes a rosary, retreat patch, all craft supplies PLUS TWO meals and other goodies. Please call 419 535-1232 or e mail GHolewi889@aol.com with questions or to sign up.
Please give us an approximate number of attendees so we can have the proper amount of food and supplies.

2009 Webelos Weekend
Friday April 3rd 6:30 PM, to Sunday April 5th 8:30 AM at Camp Miakonda
This will be a great opportunity for Webelos to earn the Forester, Outdoorsman and Geologist Activity Pins
as well as complete required parts of the Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award
This will be cabin camping. The cost is $22.00 per person (scout and adult) which includes the cabin, most food and supplies. We also will ask each participant to contribute to the food pantry, a box of cereal, healthy snack food, fruit, etc. We ask the each unit try to provide at least one leader or adult. The previous Webelos Weekends were great successes in great part because of the number of adults who participated; we had a ratio of less than 3 boys per adult. The more adults the easier the work load and the more fun everyone has.
Sign up now! There were over 150 in 2008. Spaces are limited and will go very quickly. Please contact Gary Holewinski at 419 535-1232, 419 704-7811 or e mail me at GHolewi889@aol.com.
